Lavender Strawberry Babka

Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 1/4 tsp bread machine yeast
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1/4 cup honey or sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 tbsp Lavender Culinary Buds
  • 2-3 tbsp Lavender Strawberry Jam
  • 1 additional egg for egg wash before baking

 

Directions

  1. Add warm water and yeast to your bread machine, let sit 5 minutes.
  2. Grind your lavender buds. I used a coffee grinder.
  3. Add remaining ingredients, except the jam, and set bread machine on dough setting.
  4. When the dough is done, separate into 3 portions. Take your first and roll out into a rectangle, about 1/4" thick.
  5. Spread your jam across the entire entire dough.
  6. Roll dough into a long log.
  7. Slice the log down the middle and take the two side and twist them together.
  8. Once all 3 breads are prepared, boil water in a pot.
  9. Place the prepared breads in the oven with the boiled water underneath and let the breads rise in the oven for 1 hour.
  10. Remove the breads after the hour and pre-heat the oven to 350.
  11. Once the oven has come to temperature, add the breads on a low rack for 30 minutes.
  12. Remove, let cool and enjoy!
