Bring meaning to your mantle with our lavender gift stockings! This Christmas we have partnered with the Newfoundland Outport Nursing and Industrial Association (NONIA) to create a lasting gift set that also gives back. Each sock is hand knit by women in rural Newfoundland through NONIA. These socks are special too because the custom lavender wool is also manufactured in New Brunswick by Canada's oldest woollen mill, both sentimental nods to our east coast heritage.
NONIA is derived from the initials of Newfoundland Outport Nursing and Industrial Association. It was founded in 1920 by the women of rural Newfoundland to pay the wages of trained nurses to come to their remote fishing outport communities and provide sorely needed medical care, through the sale of their handmade knitted goods. The hand knit and handwoven tradition continues today as a non-profit cottage industry for Newfoundland women to bring extra income into their homes and support their families. Read more about NONIA and the history behind our collaboration here.
Each limited edition hand knit stocking is made with love and includes the makers name and home town signed on every label. The socks are made with 100% Canadian milled wool, with a beautiful snowflake pattern and filled with a curated selection of our favourite handmade lavender products. Plus if you buy two, you can also pair your matching socks to keep your feet warm and cozy.
Buy two to make a matching set of socks (a pair can be created with the Culinary Edition too) to re-use as cozy slippers (one size - fits women approximately size 5-9, about 8.5inches in length).
