Our feature variety of Lavandula x intermedia aka Lavandin or commonly known as French lavender is appropriately named Phenomenal.
This is our largest plant by far, growing to more than a square metre when mature. Phenomenal is very oil-rich. We distill 2 or 3 times the oil from this plant compared to all of our English lavender. The essential oil is very fragrant with a distinct camphor scent so it's most commonly used in health and beauty products and diffusers. The stems of Phenomenal are long and you'll easily notice the difference between a Phenomenal bouquet and one consisting of the shorter, stubbier English lavender varieties. Phenomenal also blooms later than the English lavenders, peaking throughout the month of August. No fan of the cold, we cover all 2,500 of our Phenomenal for the winter. It is worth the effort. This is a gorgeous representation of the true beauty of lavender.
